WHO WAS NICOLAS CULPEPER?
Nicholas Culpeper, was an English apothecary and physician who lived in 17th century England. He led a tragically short life; yet his brief life was fraught with meaning. He would be later known as
“The People’s Herbalist.”
His most famous work was The English Physician published in 1653, now known as Culpeper’s Herbal. It included an English translation of Latin descriptions by the College of Physicians of various plants and their medical uses, so making herbal remedies more accessible.
And it is still in print today!
